OUR STORY
MORE THAN 20 YEARS OF LOVE
2002
A couple leashes and cool sneakers
In 2002, lifelong friends Dan and Shane started walking dogs on the Upper West Side of Manhattan to earn some scraps after college. Back then it was called West Side Pooch, serving just a handful of clients.
We Get Serious about training
To level up our passion, we partnered with PUPTOPIA and brought on a certified behavior consultant. Together, we completely overhauled how we train our walkers. We put health, safety, and breed traits first, cementing positive reinforcement at the core of everything we do. Translation: We officially learned to speak Dog!
2004
Word got out
They took the time to learn each and every dog’s unique personality and quirks, and customized each walk to fit those needs. Dogs were happier and New Yorkers took notice. They coined the phrase: “Every dog has their own version of the perfect walk.”
Still a Labor of Love
Over 20 years later, we're still a boutique, locally-run team who genuinely love what we do - and it shows in every walk and every wagging tail.
High Tech, High Touch
We partner with Time To Pet to handle the messy logistics of scheduling and communication. The goal? Make it effortless for you to track your pup’s day, without ever losing the human connection and real relationships that got us here in the first place.
The Little Note Book
From day one, they left detailed, handwritten "pup-reports" for their clients. There was Abby, a giant Schnauzer with a massive personality to match, and Stanley—the ultimate, laziest little meatball who just wanted to waddle to his favorite park bench for head scratches.
We just love dogs!
NYC Pooch started in 2002 with a simple idea: give new york city dogs the kind of care we'd want for our own pups.
Our walkers aren't just doing a job - they're building relationships with your dog, learning their quirks, and becoming their second favorite humans.
Every team member is experienced, vetted, and extensively trained. Our walkers share our passion for dogs, and our obsession with keeping dogs happy, healthy, and safe.
With hundreds of thousands of walks under our belt, long-tenured team members, and clients who have been with us from the start, we’re proud of the reputation we’ve built and the amazing, hard-working team members we get to work with each day.
Come meet the team that makes it all happen!
